Maltaqua has over three decades of experience as a dive centre with accommodation, ensuring that you will receive professional education, training and a true technical diving adventure.
Maltaqua was founded in 1970 by Mike and Agnes Upton, both CMAS National Instructors, PADI Staff Instructors and BSAC Advanced Instructors who have both logged thousands of dives since they started diving in 1968. Both are teachers by profession so diver training has always been of particular interest to them.
In the 40 years that Maltaqua has been one of Europe's leading dive bases it has serviced tens of thousands of clients and trained thousands of divers and hundreds of highly skilled instructors. We have always strived to improve the range and quality of service we offer to our clients but always maintaining a policy of Safety First. Over the years our standards of safety and service have brought us world wide recognition and acclaim.
We can arrange everything for you no matter how large or small your group may be. In addition to technical diving packages, technical diving equipment sales and rental and gas blending, we can provide help with flights, accommodation, airport transfers, car / van rental and boats. By helping you organise everything, we can help you make your visit to Malta not just a diving expedition but a holiday to remember.
Accomodation: Just a few steps from the Dive Centre is 'Sands', our own, air conditioned, studio apartments, purpose-built for divers, which has an area set aside to wash and hang your gear.
The Sands Apartments are very conveniently situated just off the main road through St Paul's Bay and about 100 metres from the Maltaqua Dive Centre. Their position just on the edge of the village means they are close to all the amenities without suffering the traffic noise of the town centre.
Although they were originally designed for the discerning diver, they have proved popular with all tourists. They have all that is needed for a comfortable holiday. They are well finished, tastefully decorated, roomy and clean. There is a flight of stairs to the first floor and a lift from there to the remaining floors. No need for divers to lug their gear upstairs to the flat as there is a room in the basement to wash and store equipment.
All apartments are supplied with linen and bathroom towels, cutlery and crockery. You will need to bring your own beach/bath towels. Water and electricity are included in the price. Sleeping arrangements should be advised at the time of booking. Transfers to and from the airport are also arranged at no extra cost.
